History
The Baptist Historical Society of NSW (BHS) was created in 1974....
Objectives
The objectives for which the Society exists are as follows:
(a) To encourage research on Baptist people, places, institutions, products and events, especially those related to NSW and the ACT.
(b) To obtain custody of Baptist historical records and to facilitate the careful documentation and preservation of Baptist history.
(c) To publish articles, papers, books and other media on Baptist history.
(d) To foster interest in Baptist history among local churches and to assist in the preparation and celebration of significant anniversaries.
(e) To assist researchers at schools, colleges and universities.
(f) To promote the care of buildings and sites of historical interest to Baptists.

A copy of the Society's new Constitution (adopted on 7 February 2008) is available.

Meetings
Meetings of the Society are held quarterly, normally on the first Thursday in February, May, August and November. Meetings commence at 7.30 pm. The venue is Morling College, 120 Herring Rd, Macquarie Park (either in the Faculty Lounge or, for larger gatherings, the G.H. Morling Chapel). All are welcome.
Publications
The Society publishes a quarterly journal, The Baptist Recorder (edited by Rev Dr Graeme Chatfield), and a series of monographs. Copies of the journal are available on this website (go to Journals), and copies of the monographs may be purchased from our Online Shop.

Archives
The Baptist Archives, located at Morling College, holds the most extensive collection of Australian Baptist documents and memorabilia ever assembled. The Baptist Archives is administered by the Baptist Union of Queensland with assistance from Morling College and the Baptist Historical Society of NSW. The Honorary Archivist is Dr John Stanhope, and he is assisted by a growing team of volunteers. Public access by appointment is available to bona fide researchers.
